Payment claims remain a complex and often time-consuming part of construction delivery. With cost pressures, tighter regulations and rising client expectations, contractors are adopting Payapps to better manage progress claims.

According to Payapps, 28 of the builders named in BCI Central’s Construction League Australia 2025 report are using its platform to help submit, assess and approve payment claims. For these contractors, the move to digital has been about simplifying collaboration, improving compliance and strengthening supply chain relationships.

Scott Lockwood, director of customer success at Payapps, says the focus is on making practical changes that support project delivery.

“We’re proud that so many of Australia’s leading builders trust Payapps,” says Lockwood. “But what matters more is what it says about these businesses – they’re not just managing projects, they’re thinking long-term about process improvement, subcontractor satisfaction and sustainable growth.”

Examples in practice

ADCO Constructions has used Payapps to automate the submission and assessment of progress claims, ensuring each one is contractually aligned and tracked. The company reports that this approach has reduced unnecessary back-and-forth with subcontractors and sped up approvals.

At Buildcorp, where multiple projects and a large subcontractor network create heavy administrative demands, Payapps has helped standardise claims and reduce processing time.

“With Payapps, setting up a contract at the start of a project takes only about 10 minutes,” says Toni Hall, group commercial business systems manager at Buildcorp. “Even the simplest claims can now be processed in as little as two minutes. That’s a massive time saving that’s helped us scale without adding headcount.”

Mainbrace Constructions has digitised progress claims with Payapps, reducing the time spent chasing subcontractors for compliance documents by ensuring they are attached at the point of submission.

Sarah Constructions, which has been expanding its subcontractor base, has implemented Payapps to improve payment certainty and visibility.

Supporting subcontractor relationships

When payment claims are delayed or lack clarity, relationships and productivity can suffer.

Builders using Payapps have reported faster turnaround times, less manual data entry and fewer disputes. Subcontractors gain real-time visibility into the status of claims, improving communication and reducing stress.

“The businesses we partner with aren’t chasing shortcuts,” says Lockwood. “They’re investing in solutions that help them build trust, deliver faster and reduce complexity where it matters most – in the day-to-day processes that support project success.”

As operational and compliance demands increase, more contractors are focusing on the systems that underpin project success. Digital claim management is one example of how processes are being refined to improve collaboration, maintain compliance and support stronger supply chain relationships.
