Hyderabad: Narcotic Enforcement Wing of Hyderabad police (HNEW) on Sunday arrested a Bengaluru-based drug peddler, Ejaz Ahmed, and seized different types of synthetic drugs worth 12 lakh from his possession near Masab Tank. They seized MDMA (11 grams), cocaine (35 grams), OG (5 grams), and Ecstasy pills (15, weighing about 7.7 grams) were seized from his possession. Ahmed claims to be a civil contractor in Bengaluru, but he discontinued civil engineering in the final year due to drug addiction, police found.According to police, Ahmed was picked up when he arrived in the city to deliver the drug consignment to his clients here. Usually, he ships drugs through courier, and cab and bus-based parcel services. “But when the order is big and the client is also big, he delivers the drug himself,” they added.Police found that he was in regular touch with at least three persons in Hyderabad, who could be his clients or sub-peddlers themselves, working for Ejaz on commission basis. A probe is underway to unearth the details of his suppliers and his client base in Hyderabad, an official said.He initially worked for his father, a civil contractor, and later launched his own business but ran into losses in a short period. Subsequently, he got addicted to drugs and later turned a drug peddler, established connections with Nigerian peddlers in Bengaluru, and started supplying drugs in the Garden City and Hyderabad.Police, prima facie, found that Ejaz had connections with the top drug peddlers in Bengaluru and used his earnings from peddling drugs on branded clothing, footwear, and staying in a posh apartment, etc.“Ejaz procures drugs such as MDMA, cocaine, OG, and Ecstasy pills from Nigerian suppliers by contacting them on WhatsApp and pays them online. He then transports the same to clients in Hyderabad,” an official said.
