We often take the technology we use every day for granted, and we’d miss it if it wasn’t there.

Janet Young is the ICE Director General and Secretary

For the ICE, not keeping pace with innovation means that we’d be missing the opportunity to offer members a better experience. The ICE must continue to upgrade its services so that members can access up-to-date, relevant information and feel supported in their professional development in our ever-evolving digital landscape.

One important digital service that we’re upgrading is our membership management system. The system, which powers many of the services in the MyICE portal, was launched recently after several years in development.

It will improve the way we manage members’ data and allow us to tailor website content to match their interests and streamline internal processes.

As with most large-scale IT projects, the launch was not always plain sailing. Migrating data from almost 100,000 members and rebuilding the many automated processes that rely on a central database was not easy.

But thanks to the hard work of ICE colleagues, we can now look forward to a more digitally enabled future, in which we’re better able to support members throughout their careers.

I’m also grateful to all members for their patience as we migrated to our new system and re-launched our membership portal, MyICE.

Responding directly to feedback, we have also upgraded the ICE Knowledge Hub.

The hub has a new interface that means users can easily navigate the platform and search for what they need. It also provides a wide range of different resources such as Tech Talk podcasts, videos and infographics that support professional growth.

We’ve also added new safety content to the hub, reflecting our shared commitment to this critical area. Case studies about the lessons learned from recent infrastructure failures will be shared on the platform. These resources analyse key factors from real-life scenarios and they also highlight best practice.

Our efforts to improve our digital presence will continue.

Next year, we will be revamping the ICE website to improve members’ experience. The new website will be easier to use, offer more personalised content and have a better search function.

This is all part of our mission to improve accessibility and overall user experience, and we will continue to update members about this work as it progresses.

As an institution, we’re dedicated to meeting members’ expectations and giving them every advantage to enable them to achieve their goals and shape the future of our increasingly digital world.
